Tony Gallagher appointed editor-in-chief of The Sun
News UK has appointed Tony Gallagher as editor-in-chief of The Sun. Gallagher will take up the role in the coming weeks having served as deputy editor of the Daily Mail since April 2014, and as editor of The Daily Telegraph before that.
Gallagher will replace current Sun editor David Dinsmore who has been appointed chief operating officer of News UK, publishers of The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times.
Rebekah Brooks will also return to News UK as chief executive, having resigned from the position in 2011. Brooks will take up the role from Monday 7 September.
