The Sun launches ‘celebration of print’
The Sun has today launched its ‘celebration of print’ marketing campaign with a special edition of the newspaper being delivered to 22 million English homes.
The special edition celebrates Englishness and the start of the Brazil World Cup.
Special features in today’s free edition include a letter from actor James Cordon to England manager Roy Hodgson, a list of the top 66 players in English football history and a history of England in Sun front pages. The topless model on page three has been dropped for this issue.
Sun managing editor Stig Abell said: “It’s a great credit to the idea of a print product. I can’t think of another way of speaking to 22 million households. If it didn’t exist we would have to invent it for this purpose.”
He said the special edition was intended to promote The Sun in print and online and that it was a celebration of the World Cup, and of print.
