The Journal (Newcastle) editor to depart

The Journal (Newcastle upon Tyne) interim editor Brian Aitken will be departing the newspaper.

In future, all regional editorial teams will report to Neil Benson, who in turn reports to Lloyd Embley, who will expand his role from Daily Mirror editor to group editor-in-chief with control of the national and regional news brands (with the exception of Media Scotland).

Aitken’s departure is one of several in the wake of a streamlining project involving the Trinity Mirror regional titles under the "One Trinity Mirror vision".
