The New Day newspaper announces closure

The New Day editor Alison Phillips has confirmed news of the newspaper closing. The paper launched in February 2016 and will release its final edition tomorrow, Friday 6 May.

Phillips released a statement on the paper’s Facebook account this morning (5 May), where she said: “We have tried everything we could but sadly we just haven’t reached the sales figures we needed to make it work financially. The response over the 50 issues we have published has been extraordinary.”
