Guy Woodward appointed chair of the British Society of Magazine Editors
Food and Travel magazine editor Guy Woodward has taken over as chair of the British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME).
Woodward was made editor of the independently published Food and Travel in January 2013, after nearly a decade at IPC’s wine title Decanter, where he also served as editor. He previously worked at both B2B publisher Centaur and The Guardian newspaper.
The BSME is an industry body for consumer, business and contract publishing magazine and online editors, and acts as a voice of the industry. It holds regular events throughout the year – both social and industry-focused – its next event is a Q&A with the UK MD of Twitter, Bruce Daisley, at the end of January. Its biggest event of the year is the BSME Awards, held in November, which honours the outstanding editors of the year.
Woodward, who will be backed up by vice-chair Director editor Lysanne Currie, takes over the year-long post from Diane Kenwood, editor of Woman’s Weekly.
