5 News editor appointed

ITN and Channel 5 have appointed Cristina Nicolotti Squires as editor of 5 News.

In the role, Squires will lead all news editorial and management for 5 News programming, including NewsTalk Live. She will also join ITN's senior management team.

Squires is currently ITV News' head of output and assistant editor, coordinating on-air output across all news programmes.

Squires replaces Geoff Hill, who is leaving to join ITV News. She is expected to begin the role in the coming weeks and can be found tweeting @newsgirlitv.
