Eight great ways to stay in the loop with the news

Create an account to choose the topics you are interested in and get customised news boards for all the subjects you want to monitor. Try niche topics to see trends around those subjects or broader terms to get a feel for what is being discussed across your industry. Log in on any device to access news on the go.

Great for: segmenting news based on your clients, tracking trends across certain industries, finding news about the things that are important to you without searching for it, industry news on the go

Hvper

News from the top media outlets across the world all in one place. Whether it’s UK news on the BBC, trending topics on Medium, the greatest posts on Buzzfeed that day or top stories on Al Jazeera. See all the headlines in one place and click the links to go to the stories you care about.

Great for: seeing important stories from major news outlets, getting a snippet of the top stories that day, seeing industry or country-specific trending news

Pocket

Save links into your ‘pocket’ to access again at another stage. Use it to bookmark articles to access multiple devices.

Great for: saving interesting articles while on the go, bookmarking articles you want to access again, saving an article for later when you don’t have time to read it now

Media Bulletin

Quora

See what questions your target audience are asking. Read the answers to see the viewpoints of other responders or try asking your own questions.

Great for: finding content gaps for your blog, seeing what matters to your audience, sharing your knowledge

 

These are just a few of the channels I regularly use to keep informed with what is happening across the world in the topics that matter to me. They quickly access certain parts of the news rather than going directly to the outlet pages (which I still do regularly too!).

Great resources like PRWeek, CIPR Influence, PRmoment and PRexamples (recently acquired by James Herring of Taylor Herring) also help me stay informed with the latest trends across PR.
