Financial Times appoints financial editor and assistant editor

Financial Times has appointed Patrick Jenkins as financial editor and assistant editor.

Jenkins has been the FT's banking editor for the past four years. Beginning 1 January 2014, he will oversee broader financial coverage with a focus on financial services and investment. He will contribute to comment and analysis and continue to write for the Inside Business column.

Sarah Gordon, the Financial Times' former companies editor, will return from leave on 1 January to begin as European business editor and associate editor, taking over the pan-regional banking patch.
