Changes at Financial Times
Financial Times has made a string of editorial appointments to further strengthen its coverage of Britain’s exit from the European Union. Daniel Dombey becomes the FT’s first Brexit editor, in addition to his responsibilities as global economy news producer. Dombey will coordinate the FT’s Brexit coverage, managing resources and overseeing content output across all channels.
FT also looks to boost its presence in Brussels with a number of appointments. Alan Beattie, a former US economics editor and world trade editor, is moving his leader writing role from London to Brussels next month (August 2016). Rochelle Toplensky is also relocating to Brussels to cover European regulation as EU correspondent. She previously served as Lex writer.
Additional changes include the appointment of former political and diplomatic editor James Blitz as Whitehall editor. He will work with the Westminster team, overseeing coverage of the courts and public policy.
Former deputy world news editor Joshua Chaffin will be exploring the divides in the UK across regions, demographies and wealth, linking up with the FT’s team of regional correspondents in a UK correspondent role.
