Blog Spotlight with Becky Wiggins, editor of Englishmum.com

Englishmum.com is a lighthearted mix of family friendly food and travel. We find out more about how the blog got to where it is today!

Tell us about your blog, how did you get started?

Englishmum.com started seven years ago as ‘English Mum in Ireland’ and was basically a letter home to my family after we moved there from Hertfordshire. It has evolved over the years to cover more of the things I love best: eating and travelling.

How do you source content for your blog?

The content is generally food-inspired: from recipes that I cook at home to restaurants and quite a lot of food-centric travel.

Do you write reviews?

You’ll find the odd restaurant review on the blog and I’ll occasionally review interesting bits and pieces that I come across or get sent. An average of about 50,000 people read the blog every month.

How did you build a following for your blog?

Seven years of hard slog! Lots of networking, hundreds of recipe's and always responding to every blog comment and tweet.

Are you a PR friendly blog?

Oh yes, I’ve built great relationships with lots of PRs over the years and I’m always happy to chat about content.

How best do you like to be approached by PRs?

I’m always open to a friendly email. I do get quite a lot that start: ‘Dear Mum’…

Blogging is great because….?

…of the amazing opportunities it’s given me over the years and the incredible people that I’ve met.
