Please feel free to consume our Blog Spotlight with editor of Curb Your Consumerism Kate Edwards.
Tell us about your blog, how did you get started? Why did you choose your subject?
Curb Your Consumerism grew out of a desire to control my finances. I wrote about my journey from having a well paid job with high expenses, to living a more simple, fulfilling life.
How do you source content for your blog?
I write the content myself, or it comes from partners with an interest in creating content on a personal finance theme.
Do you have a favourite post or one that best sums up your blog?
'Have a Personal Finance Strategy'. I like to think that if readers have arrived at my site, it’s because they are trying to achieve something that defies the current work/spend culture. This post is key to escaping that trap.
Do you write reviews? How many people read your reviews?
I haven’t written reviews in the past, although it is something that I am interested in doing in the future.
How did you build a following for your blog?
I don’t do anything artificial to encourage readers anymore. I just write about saving money, and living simply, and over time the blog has gained a natural following.
Are you a PR friendly blog? Do you accept contributions and content for your blog?
I am a PR friendly blog. Although I don’t just post releases or infographics for no reason, they have to be relevant to my readers.
How best do you like to be approached by PRs?
With a content idea that is exclusive and will interest my readers, or will benefit them in some way.
